The University of Bedfordshire Business School is offering up to five bursaries of £5,000 to prospective students from across Europe, applying for its full-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme to start in September this year.
The £5,000 bursaries will part-fund the one-year programme which costs £10,950.
The University of Bedfordshire Business School MBA is a rigorous and intellectually demanding masters level programme which offers a wide-ranging exploration of business theories and strategies, while at all times linking back to real-life business problems and current issues.
Full-time students enjoy a diverse curriculum of core modules such as strategy, operations management, marketing and finance, with innovative subjects including entrepreneurship and small business management, e-business management, change management and leading and managing people.
Mr Tim Priestman, MBA Programmes Director, said: “This is a difficult time in business, so an MBA qualification can really put someone ahead of the pack. By embarking upon a course of MBA study, the student signals to an existing or future employer a commitment to taking charge of their career and to building strategic skills in readiness for increased management responsibility.
“In the current economic climate studying for an MBA also offers an opportunity to those suffering redundancy or seeking a change of direction to focus on their personal and professional development.
“We are delighted to be able to offer bursaries for the full-time programme to students from outside the UK who would like to study with us.”
The bursaries are available to students living outside the UK, but elsewhere in Europe.
Thirty-year-old entrepreneur Biao Wang, originally from China, completed the MBA at the University of Bedfordshire Business School and is now founder and CEO of Luton-based Camellia Universal Ltd, advising companies on how to do business in his home country.
“During my studies, I became fascinated as to why many British companies were not doing very well in China. I did a lot of research and discovered the significance of the proud nature of the Chinese nation. Many Western business deals fail at the outset due to fundamental misunderstandings.
“I saw a new and fantastic business opportunity in the UK, bridging the gap between the two cultures. Hence, I set up a China-related business consulting company with my English business partners in the UK after I completed my MBA degree.”
Biao Wang chose the University of Bedfordshire Business School as he felt it was an ideal environment in which to study, offering the professional development he was looking for.
“I greatly improved my language skills and have acquired the best of western culture combined with the best of eastern culture. I also feel I developed a good level of interpersonal skills, creativity and motivation. The course developed my effective planning, organisational and team management skills. As a result, I feel much more confident in the business world.”
The University of Bedfordshire Business School is a member of the UK Association of Business Schools (ABS) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). It also offers a part-time MBA which is studied by 400 students across seven countries.
